Earlier this month i took an English Language Proficiency Test or ELPT at my campus. The test just like TOEFL test, which is listening, structure and reading test. I took the test because it's a requirement for the final session of my project (sidang tugas akhir). The day before yesterday i took the result and i'm a little surprise but not happy either saw the outcome. I got 131 points on my ELPT (with TOEFL standard it is 580), compare to my previous test it was only go up 20 points. Not much improvement on my english, yeah i'm not that shock because i didn't get to learn english during this 3-4 years in college. But even the result wasn't bad, but i realize that my english is just so so. Now when i nearly finishing my degree and looking for job, my english is still same as a high schooler.
What is more miserable for me is that my field of job entail me to have a proper english. As petroleum industry are fill with mutinational company with multinational employee es well. With my ability now, i imagine i will fail on any interview in english. Worsen by my lack ability to speak. I thought watching movies as i usually do can make my english better, but it wasn't. I still need to learn the grammar too, which i already forgot.
I think i watch too many korean and japanese movies, now i more familiar with it than english eventhou it came with english subtitle. Do i have to take another english course now. Sigh its was tiresome to take the course as it was happen when i took it in high school time.
Maybe i have to live outside, by outside i mean in english speaking country so i can force myself to speak english. Let see will it happen in the near future...
